Many musicians find harmony, composition and improvisation not an entirely easy subject.
In the vast majority of cases, even in music academies and conservatories, a type of Theoretical harmony is taught.
Yes, this gives you a knowledge of how chords work, tonal functions, modulations and more, but it does not give you the means to combine these elements and compose or improvise a piece that actually tastes like a composition of the 18th century!
The harmony that was taught by the great master composers of the past (for example Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn) was Practical harmony, which is based on teaching this as a language, through the addition of elements always new, to be played on the keyboard and which can be combined to compose new songs!
The method that was used was that of the Partimento, an exercise through which you can learn to compose, improvise and play the keyboard at the same time!
If you are on this page, it means that you are looking for a valid and effective method that can lead you to great results in this beautiful art in a short time!

Counterpoint is one of the most important aspects of music!
Thanks to it we can combine different melodies and themes in a unique and beautiful harmony.
All the greatest musicians of the past have studied counterpoint for years and had become great masters!
It is a great pity that today the teaching of counterpoint, in the majority of cases, is reduced to a boring series of exercises, without this having a practical effect in composition or improvisation!
For this reason, in my class, you will not only learn to do counterpoint exercises, which are fundamental to the right extent, but we will immediately see their practical application in the composition of bicinia, motets for three voices, instrumental and vocal forms for four parts!
Counterpoint, thanks to its numerical combination techniques, can be used to improvise canzoni, organ versets and other Renaissance forms for keyboard.
Here is an example of it, it is a way of making an organ verset that I recorded on one of the most beautiful Renaissance organs in the world, in the palatine basilica of Santa Barbara, in Mantua, Italy, on the organ built in 1565 by Graziadio Antegnati commissioned by the Duke of Mantua!
By joining the counterpoint class, you too will learn how to craft a verse like this, and so much more!

Isn’t modern music theory enough?
You see, if you want to understand the culture, art and literature of a country, you must first know the language of that country, that’s not a given!
Similarly, if you want to really get to know, and then play with more awareness, the music of the Renaissance and Baroque, you need to know the music theory that was taught at that time!
What aspects of Early Music Theory were being taught?
